The Pestana Miramar is in an excellent location in Funchal to enable walking either to the city centre and the promenade front or in the other direction to the Lido area. There are bus stops on the road outside the hotel to take buses in either direction, too, and the journey prices are very reasonable. The rooms are nice, though a little dated, and the service from all the staff is very friendly and very good.The buffet dinners in the A Vila restaurant are very good with plenty of choice. However, it's best to go before 9.45am for breakfast to ensure a good selection. The only 'downside' is that the indoor swimming pool - good to use in the Winter period - isn't heated and is quite cold for a swim. Overall, a very nice holiday and superb views over the island and harbour from our apartment balcony.
Really good hotel very clean, tidy and wonderful friendly staff. The hotel is fantastic located for everything and the hop on hop off bus red route stop’s direct outside the main reception. It is the perfect place for some winter sun and relaxation.

Great for short break. Pool area very clean. Service fantastic. In particular Claudia and all waiting staff so helpful and sense of humour! Gardens so pretty and well tended. Improvement on room could be a few teabags and coffee sachets and water in room for kettle might be nice addition.The evening entertainment could be improved (sorry it is so drab is my feedback) but a great position and overall a great stay! A beautiful, elegant, traditional-style hotel in a great location in Funchal. Fantastic, well-kept garden. Very clean. The hotel service was very nice and professional - both at the reception and in the restaurants. Large, ergonomically furnished rooms. Food very good compared to other hotels.
Staff were great, carpark interesting unless you have a small car, pool very chilly (indoor) and our view left a lot to be desired! Location was brilliant as a tour bus stop was opposite, there were scooters outside too - they were fun!
